Ravenna is 0-3 against South Loup since September of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Bluejays will take on South Loup at 7:00 p.m. Ravenna knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully South Loup likes a good challenge.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Ravenna against Arcadia/Loup City as the team secured a 52-8 victory. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Ravenna's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kobe Chamberlin, who rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and Trenton Wedemeyer, who rushed for 122 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Ravenna didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyce Coufal and Wedemeyer.
Meanwhile, South Loup played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-36 to Pleasanton. South Loup hasn't had much luck with Pleasanton recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Ravenna will have to contain Conner Paulsen as he made an impact in South Loup's last game. He rushed for 275 yards and three scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Paulsen is now averaging an impressive 103.6 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Crew Witthuhn, who rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
Ravenna's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for South Loup, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Chamberlin and Paulsen. Chamberlin just won't slow down this season and has run in 18 touchdowns while averaging 152.2 rushing yards per game. Paulsen has been a dominant force too and has run in 5 touchdowns while averaging 103.6 rushing yards per game.
Ravenna came up short against South Loup in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 34-28. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Paulsen, who rushed for 71 yards and a pair of TDs, and also picked up 39 receiving yards and one score.
