Basketball Recap: Monroe Comes Up Short

Monroe played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-45 defeat at the hands of the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets. The loss continues a trend for the Redhawks in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost five in a row.

Forest Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Layla Rushing led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Rushing has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Nyjaya Wingo, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Forest Hills, their win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

As of now, neither Monroe nor the Yellow Jackets have any future games scheduled.
