Football Recap: Springfield Piles Up the Points Against Rocky Ford + How To Watch

Springfield's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-20 victory over the Rocky Ford Meloneers. Considering the Longhorns have won three contests by more than 31 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Springfield found their leader in sophomore Coltin Woodhouse, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 161 yards and three TDs on only 11 passes. Woodhouse's passing game has become a key predictor of the Longhorns' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Springfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 353 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Although Rocky Ford took the loss, they still got scores from Cayson Vandyk and Shayne Gonzales.

Springfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points over those games. As for Rocky Ford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Springfield will challenge Holly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Longhorns will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Rocky Ford, they will square off against Swink at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Meloneers will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
