Recap: White County Warriors vs. Lumpkin County Indians

The White County Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Lumpkin County Indians on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Indians 61-55. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (38), White County still had to take the loss.

White County's loss came despite strong showings from Tripp Nix and Ryan Fowler. Nix threw for 166 yards and five touchdowns, while Fowler rushed for 247 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Fowler's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Gaines Clark also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Leading Lumpkin County to victory were Cal Faulkner and Mason Sullens. Faulkner rushed for 139 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, while Sullens rushed for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Sullens is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.

White County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Lumpkin County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

White County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pickens at 7:30 p.m. As for Lumpkin County, they will head out on the road to face off against Dawson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Dawson County: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Lumpkin County has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
