Recap: Port Gibson Blue Waves vs. Jefferson County Tigers
The Port Gibson Blue Waves waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Jefferson County 56-37. Port Gibson pushed the score to 46-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Jefferson County cut but never quite recovered from.
Port Gibson was led to victory by Ger'Kiya Flowers and Amyah Hedrick. Flowers scored 16 points, while Hedrick scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hedrick has scored all season. Camara Evans was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Port Gibson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Jefferson County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Gibson will challenge Wesson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Wesson is ranked 144th, while Port Gibson is ranked 132nd). As for Jefferson County, they will head out on the road to challenge South Pike at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
