Basketball Recap: Marion County's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Marion County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 46-31 fall against the Jasper Vikings. The Red Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 59-45.

Jasper got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Lou Franks out in front who went 6 for 14 en route to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Franks a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Rigsby, who posted eight points and three steals.

Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Jasper, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion County will host Vina at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jasper, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Cullman at 5:30 p.m. Jasper is facing Cullman at the right time seeing as Cullman is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
