Football Game Preview: Butte Central Catholic Maroons vs. Whitefish Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Butte Central Catholic Maroons will venture away from home to challenge the Whitefish Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Butte Central Catholic took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 38-27 win over Beaverhead County. Considering the Maroons' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Butte Central Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Noah Sutton and Henly Mansanti.

Meanwhile, Whitefish faced Bigfork in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Vikings & Valkyries 22-21. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Vikings & Valkyries recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Whitefish's win came from a few key players Butte Central Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cole Moses, who rushed for 129 yards and one TD while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 119 rushing yards. Vlad Shestak was another key player, picking up 48 receiving yards and one score.

Whitefish was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 214 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 197 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Butte Central Catholic's record now sits at 5-3. As for Whitefish, their record is now 6-2.

Butte Central Catholic ended up a good deal behind Whitefish in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, losing 34-20. Can the Maroons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
