Game recap: Kaplan High School Football Team defeats West St. Mary

KAPLAN, La. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter, Kaplan (La.) held on for a 14-10 victory over West St. Mary (Baldwin, La.) on Saturday. The difference for the Pirates was that Devonte Davis ran for a touchdown.

After trailing 7-3 at the half, the Wolfpack went ahead on a rushing touchdown with 2:00 to go in the third. Kaplan grabbed hold of the lead when Davis ran for a touchdown with 8:00 to go in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.

By the end of the third, KHS found itself trailing by three points as West St. Mary captured the lead thanks to one score in the quarter. WSM scored on a rushing touchdown in the quarter.

West St. Mary's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run in the third quarter.

The Pirates came in allowing an average of 21.2 points per game this season.



The win was a nice bounce back for Kaplan, which lost to North Vermilion last week, 29-28.

In a 3A District 6 game next week Kaplan (5-2) takes on Erath, and West St. Mary (3-4) will go up against North Vermilion also in a 3A District 6 game.
