Baseball Recap: Palo Duro Comes Up Short

Palo Duro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 last Saturday.

Palo Duro's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Lubbock-Cooper, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Palo Duro will challenge Shallowater at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Palo Duro has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they will head out to square off against Coronado at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Coronado has won five straight at home, while Lubbock-Cooper won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
