Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Whitman

Whitman not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 4, 2024. They put the hurt on the Gaithersburg Trojans with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Cole Roman made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Kenneth Nickerson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Sammy Berman was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was RJ Heller, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Whitman's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Gaithersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Whitman will square off against rival Churchill on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gaithersburg is set to take on their familiar foe Quince Orchard on Thursday.
