Lowndes had won four straight home games and Jamecia Burgman did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Vikings walked away with a 24-13 victory over the Irwin County Indians thanks in part to Burgman, who rushed for 58 yards and two scores, and also threw for 82 yards and one TD while completing 77.8% of her passes. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times she's played.
Lowndes didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of McKenzie Goff and Mollie Parker.
Although Irwin County took the loss, they still got scores from Caroline Harper and Gabi Benyard.
Lowndes' win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Irwin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Coincidentally, Lowndes and Irwin County will both be playing Thomasville the next time they take the field. The Indians will head out to face the Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Vikings will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
