Softball Game Preview: Hyde Park Panthers vs. Shiner Comanches

The Hyde Park Panthers will challenge the Shiner Comanches at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hyde Park's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Goliad with a sharp 8-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Alexa Stout was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cariana Stout, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Grace Parscal, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Hyde Park hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shiner). Everything went their way against Veritas Academy on Friday as Shiner made off with a 19-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comanches.
