Softball Recap: Barlow's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Barlow dropped their record down to 16-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gresham Gophers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gophers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 on May 2nd.

Charliann Renner 2025 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Barlow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madilyn Paulsen 2027, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Gresham, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.

On Gresham's side, the team relied heavily on La Terra Foster-Frison, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddy Sagapolutele, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Coming up, Barlow will face off against Cleveland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gresham, they will square off against Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
