Gilbert scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 13-6 to the Mesquite Wildcats. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Brady Carlin put in work no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Carlin was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ryan Eggerling made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Wilfredo Aviles IV was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Gilbert's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mesquite, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Gilbert Tigers challenge South Mountain Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Gilbert is facing South Mountain at the right time seeing as South Mountain is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Mesquite, they will square off against Higley at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Mesquite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
