The Southwest Christian School Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Fort Worth Christian Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Christian School has given up an average of 29.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Southwest Christian School took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Grapevine Faith Christian 49-35. The Eagles pushed the score to 42-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.
Trey Mosley produced another solid performance rushing for 287 yards and six scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southwest Christian School was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 431 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grapevine Faith Christian only rushed for 127.
Meanwhile, while it was Fort Worth Christian who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Midland Christian who put up more. The Cardinals took a 31-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.
Southwest Christian School will have to contain Kason Anding as he made an impact in Fort Worth Christian's last game. He rushed for 61 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries. Anding is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Fort Worth Christian also got help from Creighton Chandler, who showed off his sure hands for 111 receiving yards.
Having lost for the first time this season, Fort Worth Christian fell to 6-1. As for Southwest Christian School, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Southwest Christian School ended up a good deal behind Fort Worth Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024, losing 27-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Cardinals' Landon Gigliotta, who threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 47 yards.
