Baseball Recap: Western Boone Gets the Win

Western Boone won the last time they faced Frankfort and things went their way on Thursday too. The Stars walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Hot Dogs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stars.

Easton Nance made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Western Boone let Quinn Westerfeld and Gavin Hawkins run wild. Westerfeld got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, while Hawkins went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Hawkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Howe, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Western Boone's record is now 12-9. As for Frankfort, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Coming up, Western Boone will welcome Clinton Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.71 runs per game on average), something the Stars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Frankfort, they will face off against Warsaw at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
