Softball Recap: Thomas A. Edison Wins Going Away Against Simon Gratz

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Thomas A. Edison had no problem doing just that on Monday. Everything went their way against the Simon Gratz Bulldogs as they made off with a 12-2 victory. Considering the Owls have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Marisol Valencia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Omalis Rivera was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Thomas A. Edison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive contests.

Thomas A. Edison pushed their record up to 5-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Simon Gratz, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Thomas A. Edison will challenge Maritime Academy Charter at 3:15 p.m. on the 27th. The Owls will need to watch out since the Seadogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. Simon Gratz does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
