Basketball Recap: Rice Lake Piles Up the Points Against Superior

After losing to Superior the last time they met, Rice Lake decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Rice Lake Warriors blew past the Superior Spartans, posting a 74-21 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Rice Lake to victory were Adaline Sheplee and Addison Schmidt. Sheplee went 12 for 19 on her way to 30 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals, while Schmidt dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 boards. The match was Schmidt's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Doebereiner, who posted eight points.

Rice Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Rice Lake's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Superior, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rice Lake will head out to face off against Chippewa Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Rice Lake is facing Chippewa Falls at the right time seeing as Chippewa Falls is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Superior, they will venture away from home to take on Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
