Basketball Game Preview: Concord Spiders vs. Central Cabarrus Vikings

Concord hasn't had much luck against Central Cabarrus recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Concord Spiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Central Cabarrus Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Concord will head into Thursday's contest out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were dealt a 63-30 loss at the hands of Northwest Cabarrus. While losing is never fun, the Spiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Trojans are ranked 153rd).

Concord might have lost, but man, Natalie Nebrick was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 blocks. Those 11 points gave Nebrick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylin Williams, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus came up short against Robinson on Thursday and fell 48-35. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Central Cabarrus, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Concord came up short against Central Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 58-45. Can Concord avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
