High school basketball rankings: No. 4 Bishop Gorman, No. 6 Centerville lead four MaxPreps Top 25 teams to finish regular season unbeaten

No. 1 Richardson, No. 2 Duncanville conclude regular season play before entering UIL playoff gauntlet.

All four remaining unbeaten teams in the MaxPreps Top 25 concluded regular season play as postseason action begins to heat up around the country. No. 4 Bishop Gorman, No. 6 Centerville, No. 24 Garfield and No. 25 Weddington enter postseason play as favorites to capture their respective state championships.

Texas' UIL postseason pairings will be announced Sunday as all eyes turn to the Class 6A draw to see where top-ranked Richardson and No. 2 Duncanville fall in the state tournament field.

The Florida state tournament begins this week as No. 3 Calvary Christian Academy and No. 19 Dr. Phillips each start their quest for consecutive state championships. Dr. Phillips slipped up in district play earlier in the week but looks to recover against a challenging Class 7A field.

MaxPreps Top 25 basketball rankings

Kentucky signee Cason Wallace was named Dallas Morning News Player of the Week after averaging 22.3 points, seven rebounds and 6.7 assists over three games. Wallace finished with a game-high 33 points in the Eagles' 84-78 victory over Lake Highlands (Dallas). Alabama signee Rylan Griffen surpassed 2,000 career points early in a win over MacArthur earlier in the week.

Close out regular season play against Waco on Tuesday. The Panthers will likely have an opportunity to avenge their only loss to top-ranked Richardson on their quest for a third consecutive UIL Class 6A state championship.

Four-star junior Carl Cherenfant made the game-winning basket in the Eagles' 51-49 victory over North Broward in the Class 4A District 13 title game. Begin FHSAA Class 4A state tournament play with Hallandale on Thursday.

Senior forward Darrion Williams was named Southern Nevada Class 5A co-player of the year, while junior wing Keenan Bey won defensive player of the year honors. The Gaels begin their quest to break the national record with its 10 consecutive state title this week, beginning NIAA Class 5A Southern Region play Monday against Foothill (Henderson).

Opened CIF Southern Section Open Division pool play with a 78-53 victory over Bishop Montgomery (Torrance), paced by a game-high 25 points from five-star junior Jared McCain. The Huskies continue pool play this week with games against Damien (La Verne) on Tuesday and Crean Lutheran (Irvine) on Friday.

Wrapped up regular season play unbeaten with an 85-72 win over Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.). The Elks were paced by junior Indiana commit Gabe Cupps, who had 30 points and nine assists, while senior forward Rich Rolf chipped in 28.

Despite five-star juniors D.J. Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw sidelined with injuries, the Panthers handed St. Augustine Prep (Richland) its second loss of the season 75-58 led by juniors Dasear Haskins (17), Cian Medley (16) and Cornelius Robinson (12).

Dismantled a pair of conference opponents, defeating Little Rock Southwest (Little Rock) 81-36 and Catholic (Little Rock) 65-25. The Charging Wildcats have four regular season games remaining before they begin their quest for back-to-back state championships and their sixth state championship since 2013.

Started CIF Southern Section Open Division pool play with an 89-70 victory over Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) behind a team-high 21 points from UCLA signee Amari Bailey and 14 points from four-star junior Bronny James.

Nebraska signee Jamarques Lawrence led the Lions in scoring both games last week, going for 16 points, six assists and four rebounds in a 73-61 victory over Westfield and finishing with 15 points and six rebounds in an 85-42 blowout of Linden.

Moved to 10-2 in WCAC play after picking up three wins last week, including a 78-68 victory at Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) behind a game-high 27 points from four-star junior Deshawn Harris-Smith. Three quality conference opponents remain to conclude regular season play, facing Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.) on Tuesday, St. John's (Washington, D.C.) on Friday and Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.) on Feb. 21.

Close out regular season play on Friday with a highly anticipated showdown against Simeon (Chicago) at the Proviso West Showcase. The Hilltoppers look to complete an unbeaten regular season against in-state opponents after their lone loss against No. 9 Sierra Canyon on Feb. 5.

Senior guard Kami Young was named Region 2 Class 7A Player of the Year, while junior wing Jaiun Simon and senior guard Andre Young were named first team all-region. The Falcons finished regular season play with a 79-68 victory over Cumberland Christian Academy (Austell).

After wrapping up regular season play with a quality victory over West Catholic (Philadelphia) 64-57, the Panthers cruised past Parkway Center City (Philadelphia) 66-29 in the opening round of Philadelphia Public League postseason play. Face Boys' Latin Charter (Philadelphia) in second round action Tuesday.

Defeated Archbishop Spalding (Severn) 79-64 to clinch a record fifth consecutive Baltimore Catholic League regular season title with their 26th consecutive conference victory. The Panthers close out regular season play today against Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Baltimore).

The Bengals have now won 30 or more games in three of the past four seasons. They begin their quest for the program's 12th state championship on Saturday after receiving a bye through the first two rounds of NCISAA Class 4A state tournament play.

The Cardinals close out regular season play Tuesday against Christ the King (Middle Village). With a win, this group is likely to remain the top-ranked team out of the Empire State heading into postseason play.

Lost to Olympia (Orlando) 69-65 in the Class 7A District 5 championship game. The Panthers look to regroup with an opening round FHSAA Class 7A state tournament contest against Newsome (Lithia) on Thursday.

Pulled off an impressive 55-52 comeback victory over Christ the King (Middle Village), led by a game-high 24 points from three-star junior Jayden Reid. The Crusaders close out regular season play this week with three games beginning with a Monday tilt with Dwight (New York).

The defending UIL Class 5A state champions conclude their regular season slate against Port Arthur Memorial (Port Arthur) on Tuesday. Four-star junior Wesley Yates III (19.0), Houston signee Terrance Arceneaux (15.3), junior Trealyn Porchia (13.3) and sophomores Kayde Dotson (9.4) and Clarence Payia (9.0) lead a balanced offensive attack.

Riding a 19-game win streak, the Cardinals close out regular season play this week with matchups against Bracken County (Brooksville) tonight, Tates Creek (Lexington) on Wednesday and Scott County (Georgetown) on Thursday.

The MaxPreps Top 25 is a measure of public and private schools belonging to recognized governing bodies that compete for state championships. The National Top 20 encompasses a broad spectrum of sub-collegiate programs that in most cases are not full members of state-level governing bodies and do not compete for state championships.
