Football Game Preview: Broken Bow Indians vs. Minden Whippets

Broken Bow is 9-1 against Minden since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Indians will challenge the Whippets at 7:00 p.m. Broken Bow will be strutting in after a victory while Minden will be coming in after a loss.

Broken Bow took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They really took it to Holdrege for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-3 win. With the Indians ahead 30-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Aidan Markham and Zachary Jackson were among the main playmakers for Broken Bow as the former rushed for 108 yards and one TD on only nine carries and the latter rushed for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 58 yards.

Broken Bow's run defense was locked in: Holdrege could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Cobe Wells for the heroic effort on defense: he. Broken Bow's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.6 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.97 on average over their last five games.

Meanwhile, Minden played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Milford, falling 35-12. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, the Whippets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Broken Bow will have to contain Parker Hatch as he made an impact in Minden's last game. He rushed for 139 yards and one score while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.

Minden's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Broken Bow, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-4.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Broken Bow has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 232.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Minden struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 223.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Broken Bow couldn't quite get it done against Minden in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
