Basketball Recap: Port Allegany Gets the Win

Port Allegany won the last time they faced Galeton, and Nick Wilfong did his part to make sure it happened again. The Port Allegany Gators strolled past the Galeton Tigers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-44 thanks in part to Wilfong, who went 8 of 19 en route to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 40.3% three-point shooting accuracy.

The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Hamilton, who posted a point along with six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Galeton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being TREY SYKORA, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points. MASYN MALACZEWSKI was another key player, going 5 of 8 to rack up 12 points.

Port Allegany's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Galeton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Coming up, Port Allegany will be playing in front of their home fans against Austin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Galeton, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
