Softball Game Preview: Biglerville Canners vs. Annville-Cleona Dutchmen

The Biglerville Canners will challenge the Annville-Cleona Dutchmen at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Annville-Cleona will be up against a hot Biglerville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Biglerville's pitcher stepped up to hand York County Tech a 17-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Sydney McCleaf was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Biglerville let Kierney Weigle and Leah Strawsburg run wild. Weigle fired off three triples, three runs, and one RBI while going 3-for-3, while Strawsburg scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, Strawsburg posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Walter, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Biglerville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York County Tech only posted an OBP of .182.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Annville-Cleona made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lebanon on Wednesday. Annville-Cleona put the hurt on Lebanon with a sharp 15-0 win.

Biglerville's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Annville-Cleona, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
