Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Takes a Loss

Notre Dame Prep has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 59-40 bruising from the Lutheran Northwest Crusaders on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Irish of the 59-34 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Notre Dame Prep lost, don't look at Kaylyn Sowers. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points. The contest was Sowers' third in a row with at least 15 points. Tessa Bordogna was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Notre Dame Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Lutheran Northwest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Notre Dame Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 44-39 win against Fenton on the 25th. As for Lutheran Northwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-32 loss against Everest Collegiate on the 25th.
