Basketball Recap: Aidan Trinidad-Rodriguez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laughlin over White Pine

Laughlin lost against White Pine back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Laughlin Cougars took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White Pine Bobcats. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Laughlin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Trinidad-Rodriguez, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Phillips, who posted 12 points.

White Pine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mo Van Tassell led the charge by going 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matt Thompson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Laughlin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for White Pine, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Laughlin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-38 victory against Sandy Valley on the 21st. As for White Pine, they will head out to face off against GV Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
