Volleyball Game Preview: Calabasas Coyotes vs. Newbury Park Panthers

The Calabasas Coyotes will head out to square off against the Newbury Park Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Calabasas is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Calabasas lost 3-0 to Thousand Oaks on Wednesday.

Calabasas was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-14.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Newbury Park faced off against Oaks Christian on Wednesday. Newbury Park walked away with a 3-1 victory over Oaks Christian. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Newbury Park had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-22.

Newbury Park's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Calabasas, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Calabasas suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Newbury Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Calabasas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
