Emerson triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Michael Hawkins

Recap: Emerson Mavericks vs. Colleyville Heritage Panthers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Emerson Mavericks had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 59-48 victory over the Panthers. Winning may never get old, but Emerson sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Michael Hawkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 128 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 316 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84% of his passes. Hawkins was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylen Evans, who picked up 196 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Colleyville Heritage still got an impressive performance from Luke Ullrich, who rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 425 yards and three touchdowns. Ullrich hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Hayden Golden, who picked up 153 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Emerson's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Colleyville Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 12-2.

Emerson is on the road again on Friday and play against South Oak Cliff at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. South Oak Cliff has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 468 points over their last ten games. Colleyville Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
