Baseball Recap: Leo Comes Up Short

Leo fell victim to Providence Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to the Celtics. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Celtics recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Leo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derrick Davis III, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Davis III is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

Leo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Providence Catholic, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Leo will host DePaul College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on St. Xavier at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Celtics' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
