Baseball Game Preview: Poynette Pumas vs. Lakeside Lutheran Warriors

Poynette hasn't had much luck against Lakeside Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pumas will face off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Poynette managed to slip by Fall River the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pumas came up short against the Pirates on Monday, falling 9-2. The Pumas just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row.

Poynette saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Day, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Day has snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Lakeside Lutheran suffered their biggest loss since April 16, 2024 on Friday. They lost 9-2 to Jefferson. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Poynette's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Lakeside Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Poynette suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Lakeside Lutheran in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Pumas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
