Baseball Recap: Raymond Takes a Loss

Raymond extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Derryfield Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 23rd.

As for Derryfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Derryfield's part, the team relied heavily on Adam Willett, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Willett has posted since back in April.

Coming up, Raymond will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillsboro-Deering at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Derryfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Prospect Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
