Soccer Game Preview: Liberty Christian vs. Amherst County

The Liberty Christian Bulldogs will head out to take on the Amherst County Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Liberty Christian is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Jefferson Forest just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, Liberty Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Jefferson Forest are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Amherst County kept a clean sheet against Rustburg on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Red Devils. The win continues a trend for Amherst County in their matchups with Rustburg: they've now won nine in a row.

Liberty Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Amherst County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6-1.

Liberty Christian couldn't quite get it done against Amherst County in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 3-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
