Basketball Recap: Homestead Broncos vs. Northwestern Bulls
After flying high against Norland last Wednesday, Homestead came back down to earth. The Homestead Broncos lost 56-36 to the Northwestern Bulls on Wednesday. The Broncos haven't had much luck with the Bulls recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Homestead lost, don't look at Alissa Brown. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 17 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. The matchup was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitylyn Gibson, who posted six points and six boards.
Even though they lost, Homestead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Northwestern got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tayana Dixon out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Dixon is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games she's played. Myah Newton was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Homestead's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Northwestern, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Homestead wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-17 win against Palmetto on the 27th. Northwestern has also already played their next matchup, a 46-37 defeat against Miami on the 24th.
