Volleyball Recap: High Plains Takes a Loss

High Plains was the 2-0 winner over Shelby-Rising City when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Storm fell 2-0 to the Huskies on Thursday. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While High Plains had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-19.

Leading Shelby-Rising City to victory were Aleigha Escobar-Schaefer and Khloee Trujillo. Escobar-Schaefer had 11 digs and two aces, while Trujillo had five digs and two aces. That's the most aces Escobar-Schaefer has posted over her last seven matches.

High Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Shelby-Rising City, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

High Plains didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Lawrence-Nelson on the 27th. As for Shelby-Rising City, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Dorchester on the 25th.
