Softball Recap: Land O' Lakes Gets the Win

It was close, but on Friday the Land O' Lakes Gators sidestepped the Tamarac Bengals for a 9-7 victory. With that win, the Gators brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Leiya Rojas and Jaila Mitchell did most of the damage at the plate: Rojas went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Mitchell went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Mitchell has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jazlynne Whittington, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Land O' Lakes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory got Land O' Lakes back to even at 12-12. As for Tamarac, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Land O' Lakes will square off against Academy at the Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tamarac, they will challenge Stillwater at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
