Softball Game Preview: Wilmington Hurricane vs. Valley View Spartans

The Wilmington Hurricane will head out to square off against the Valley View Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Monday just wasn't the day for Wilmington's offense. They lost 7-0 to Goshen two weeks ago. The loss continues a trend for the Hurricane in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Valley View hadn't done well against Eaton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Emily Woodward was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brelynn Riley, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Valley View's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 6-15. As for Wilmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
