Basketball Game Preview: Northeastern Eagles vs. East Duplin Panthers

Two dominant guards in Jada Simpson and Kinsey Cave are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Northeastern Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the East Duplin Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Northeastern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Whiteville as Northeastern made off with a 59-33 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, East Duplin had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.9 points) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Friday. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-39 W against the Stallions. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Stallions are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Duplin's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points over those games. As for Northeastern, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
