Volleyball Recap: Upland Takes a Loss

Upland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Chino Hills Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Upland started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-12.

Yanizza Gutierrez was a one-woman wrecking crew For Chino Hills. as she had 17 digs and nine aces. Those nine aces gave Gutierrez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elise Leung, who had 17 assists and three digs.

Upland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Chino Hills, their victory ended a five-match drought on the road and puts them at 13-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Upland will challenge rival Rancho Cucamonga at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chino Hills is set to square off against their familiar foe Los Osos at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
