Softball Recap: Southwick Regional Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Frontier Regional, Southwick Regional was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against Granby by a score of 7-4. The victory was some much needed relief for Southwick Regional as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Anna Novak made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Alyssa Bohn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Brooke Comee was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Southwick Regional's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Granby, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Southwick Regional will take on rival Palmer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Granby is set to challenge their familiar foe Ware at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
