Basketball Recap: Flint River Academy Comes Up Short

Flint River Academy was the 50-47 winner over Windsor Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Flint River Academy Wildcats had to suffer through a 72-31 loss at the hands of the Windsor Academy Knights.

Flint River Academy lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being D. J. Baums, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Newman, who had five points and five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Windsor Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colby Chappell, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. Those 19 points gave Chappell a new career-high. Gavin Snow was another key player, going 6 for 12 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Flint River Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Windsor Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Flint River Academy and Windsor Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Flint River Academy will try to hand Oak Mountain Academy their tenth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Windsor Academy will look to extend Piedmont Academy's seven-game losing streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
