Basketball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Buna Cougars

Warren is 2-7 against Buna since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warren Warriors will head out to face off against the Buna Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Buna took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Warren, who comes in off a win.

Buna will be up against a hot Warren team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Warren blew past Anahuac 47-15 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Buna played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 68-46 to Orangefield. The Cougars were down 57-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Warren will have to keep a close watch on Kaleigh Humble and Kamryn Jurik, a pair of players who had a big impact on Buna's prior game. Humble posted nine points and eight boards, while Jurik scored seven points and five rebounds. What's more, Humble also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Buna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Warren is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 19-13 record this season. As for Buna, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-13.

Warren was able to grind out a solid win over Buna when the teams last played back in January, winning 57-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Warren since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
