Basketball Recap: Canyon Springs Piles Up the Points Against Sunrise Mountain

Canyon Springs won against Mojave last Friday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Canyon Springs Pioneers took their matchup with ease, bagging a 55-27 victory over the Sunrise Mountain Miners. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-46 on January 7th.

Canyon Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jasmine Legardy led the charge by going 5 of 8 en route to 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Legardy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Ariyanah Custard was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Canyon Springs' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Sunrise Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.

Canyon Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-24 victory against Durango on the 29th. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Cimarron-Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cimarron-Memorial will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Sunrise Mountain surely won't give up without a fight.
