Basketball Game Preview: Berkner Rams vs. Lake Highlands Wildcats

Berkner hasn't had much luck against Lake Highlands recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Berkner Rams will be home for the holidays to greet the Lake Highlands Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Berkner knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Lake Highlands likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Berkner beat MacArthur 63-57. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Cardinals are ranked 784th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lake Highlands didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Dallas Jesuit on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win. The 47-point effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Berkner's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Lake Highlands, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Berkner came up short against Lake Highlands when the teams last played back in January, falling 76-68. Can Berkner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
