Volleyball Recap: Laione Eteaki Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Moapa Valley

There's no place like home for Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Moapa Valley Pirates on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in March.

Valley's got stronger as the match went on, holding Moapa Valley to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 25-18.

Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laione Eteaki, who had five kills, four digs, and two blocks. That's the most kills Eteaki has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Diaz, who had seven digs, two aces, and one block.

Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moapa Valley only served six aces.

Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Moapa Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Valley and Moapa Valley will both be playing Cristo Rey St. Viator the next time they take the court. The Vikings will host the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Pirates will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
