Softball Game Preview: Amherst Central Tigers vs. Starpoint Spartans

Amherst Central is 1-9 against Starpoint since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out to square off against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m.

Amherst Central is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 5-0 to Williamsville East.

Meanwhile, Starpoint had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 8-1 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Starpoint pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Amherst Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Amherst Central might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Starpoint in their previous meeting last Monday. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
