Football Game Preview: Progreso Red Ants vs. Bishop Badgers

The Progreso Red Ants will face off against the Bishop Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Progreso's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four matchups, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Progreso's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against San Diego on Friday. They took a blow against the Vaqueros, falling 61-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They secured a 26-21 W over Santa Gertrudis Academy on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.

Bishop's win came from a few key players Progreso will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Matthew Reyna, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also punched in one TD on the ground. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Braxten Eli Montalvo was another key player, throwing for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Bishop's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 3.5 times. In that department, Asaiah Aguilera was the leader with two sacks. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 16. Another thorn in Santa Gertrudis Academy's side was Nathaniel Jasso, who picked up 1.5 sacks, made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Bishop's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Progreso, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
