Softball Game Preview: Dumas Demons vs. West Plains Wolves

The Dumas Demons will head out to challenge the West Plains Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Dumas sitting on 12 straight victories and West Plains on five.

Dumas can't be too worried about heading out to take on West Plains: they just beat Canyon at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Demons walked away with an 8-4 win over the Eagles on Friday.

Meanwhile, West Plains owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They put the hurt on Randall with a sharp 6-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Jaylen Kaps's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izabella Wineberg, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Dumas pushed their record up to 27-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Plains, the win got them back to even at 12-12-1.

Dumas came out on top in a nail-biter against West Plains in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Demons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
