Basketball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View came into this matchup off a tough 23-point defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Sabino Sabercats by a score of 64-62 on Wednesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Mountain Lions still had to take the loss.

Loss or not, Mountain View got some senior leadership from Chase Reidhead and Daniel Anumba. Reidhead went 8-for-15 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds, while Anumba dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Kosanke, who posted eight points and seven boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and nudges their season record down to 0-2. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 59.5 points this season. As for Sabino, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Mountain View will head out to face off against Nogales at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sabino, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
