Basketball Recap: Horse Creek Academy Takes a Loss

Horse Creek Academy had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-1 to make it seven. They took a blow against the Gilbert Indians, falling 75-18. The Stallions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.

Layla Sistare was Horse Creek Academy's leading scorer, having posted six points.

As for Gilbert, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since December 6, 2024 (when they won 72-11).

Gilbert found their leader in sophomore Blythe Price, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine steals. Price has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Britt White, who went 5-for-9 en route to 11 points and five steals.

Coming up, Horse Creek Academy will welcome Silver Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilbert, they are taking a road trip to face off against Colleton County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
