Baseball Game Preview: Woodward Boomers vs. Kingfisher Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Woodward will face off against Kingfisher. Woodward will head out on the road to challenge Kingfisher at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodward hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Woodward took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They never let Kingfisher get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Boomers have posted since March 26, 2024.

For Kingfisher's part, Trypp Lack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. Lack has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cooper Henley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brett Calamateo also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Kingfisher is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11. As for Woodward, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.
