Football Recap: Decatur Central Wins High-Profile Contest Against Plainfield

Decatur Central faced Plainfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Hawks strolled past the Quakers with points to spare, taking the game 37-19. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Quakers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Braylon Morris had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 97 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Decatur Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 278 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 173 rushing yards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Decatur Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Fa'Rel Carter.

Despite the loss, Plainfield still got an impressive performance from Zander Nattam, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 67 yards.

Decatur Central's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Plainfield, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
